Social Computing Guidelines

When it comes to being social on the internet there are certain rules.

For example:

When it comes to talking to someone, even if it’s someone you know, you still gotta be nice to them.

Like you can’t just randomly use Caps. Unless you know the person very well and treat it like a joke because it just looks like you’re shouting.

When it comes to Identifying yourself by using your real name and be clear on who you are. Don’t be those people who create fake accounts, by making a fake name and adding random pictures to your site with someone else’s picture, claiming it’s you.

You gotta speak in the first person as well,  so by using your own voice, being direct towards the person and show off your personality using text.

Be careful about sharing your information with people, you don’t know whose out there and what they have planned. People can do really insane things when it comes to sharing information with strangers, and it’s never a good idea unless you fully trust that person.

When it comes to using someone else’s things, like music, so for example, if you set music in anything, always say who it’s by, and who is the original owner, do not claim it as your own. Because it’s against the law and that’s copyright.

Also, don’t pick fights, it’s wrong to cyber bully. You never know what the outcome would be. Especially when it comes to fighting with strangers, they might even track you down.

Don’t be offensive, because there was a guy who called one of his co-workers a “Jew” and used a Hitler reference, which made it to the front cover of the newspaper and the guy was sacked.

So always respect your co-workers when it comes to the internet.
